The extension shows you as logged out
Shield Web shows exactly why it considers you signed out — the wording in the popup tells you which of three states you are in, and each has a one-click fix.
"Session expired"
Your session could not be renewed — typically because it was revoked or expired on your organization's side. Click Sign in again; the popup hands you to Shield Control and updates automatically once you complete the sign-in.
"Reconnect to Shield Control"
You are still signed in to the web app, but the extension lost its connection — this usually happens after the extension itself was reloaded or updated. Click Reload Shield Control to connect (or reload the open Shield Control tab); no credentials are asked for, and the popup updates by itself.
The plain login screen
If the popup shows the Sign in with Shield Control button, the extension has no session at all — first run, or a completed sign-out. One click starts the normal sign-in flow. This works even if a signed-in Shield Control tab is already open: the click forces a fresh handoff.
Still stuck?
- Make sure you complete the sign-in in the Shield Control tab that opened — the popup stays on Waiting for sign-in until then.
- The side panel showing Not signed in with the hint to click the toolbar icon is the same state — the fix is always in the popup.
- After signing in, reload any AI-tool tabs that were already open so protection re-attaches — see Policy not enforcing?.
