Sign in to Shield Web with your work account
Shield Web has no password of its own. Sign-in always happens on Shield Control, the web app — email, Google, and multi-factor authentication in one place, governed by your organization's settings.
How the sign-in flow works
- Click the Shield icon in the Chrome toolbar and select Sign in with Shield Control.
- A Shield Control tab opens. Complete the sign-in there — your organization's usual method applies (email, Google, MFA). The popup meanwhile shows Waiting for sign-in and updates automatically.
- When the handoff finishes, the popup shows your account with a green Active status. From here you can open the side panel or jump to Shield Control settings.
The handoff is one-way and single-use: Shield Control confirms your sign-in to the extension, and the extension establishes its own session. The two never share their session tokens.
Staying signed in
The extension keeps its session fresh automatically — there is no periodic re-login. If the session can no longer be renewed (for example after your organization revokes it), the popup shows Session expired with a Sign in again button; one click restarts the flow above.
Already signed in on Shield Control?
If a signed-in Shield Control tab is already open, clicking Sign in with Shield Control simply confirms the account to the extension — you won't be asked for credentials again.
Note: after an extension reload, the popup may instead offer Reload Shield Control to connect. That means you are still signed in on the web app and only the connection to the extension needs re-establishing — reload the Shield Control tab and the popup updates by itself.
